LCCs refusal of planning permission for the Singleton site overturned.

Under the headline “Cuadrilla wins monitoring station battle”, Lancashire Evening Post reports on the planning Inspectorate’s decision to overturn Lancashire County Councils refusal of planning permission for Cuadrilla to continue using the site as a monitoring station.

The Planning Committee’s decision was made on the 25th February 2015 on the grounds of impact to the landscape from the use of monitoring equipment at the Grange Hill site, a site which was drilled in 2010 but not used and which sat idle following the expiry of the original permission. Cuadrilla had applied for a further period to utilise the site for monitoring purposes but the committee rejected the application. Initially Cuadrilla took no action to overturn the Committee’s decision until after they had also been refused permission to drill at both Preston New Road and Roseacre when they not only launched an appeal against the refusal of those applications but also a separate appeal against the refusal decision relating to Grange Rd, Singleton.

The appeal relating to Preston New Road and Roseacre is the subject of a Public Enquiry currently being held at Blackpool Football Club and expected to continue into mid March. With regard to the Singleton site they made an  appeal and requested that it be dealt with in writing as they felt it did not warrant being included in the aforementioned enquiry.
